William MacDonald was born in 1917 in Massachusetts. His parents were from Scotland, and they raised him in a godly home. At age 18, MacDonald was saved. He graduated from Harvard Business School with a Masterís degree and and became an analyst for the First National Bank of Boston. He joined the Navy in 1942 and afterwards began to teach at Emmaus Bible College. He was president of the college for six years, totalling his time there to 18 years. During that time he started the Good News Bible Correspondence Course. His Believerís Bible Commentary was published in 1989. By age 80, he had written 80 books. By the time of his death in 2007, he had written 84. Some of his other titles include Living Above the Average and The Wonders of God.
